11. The Wabbit and a Quantum Sling Shot
They gathered speed as they tail-ended the first planet. "That's a good going sling thingy Quantum," said Skratch. Quantum was unimpressed by compliments, "Quiet please, this is finicky, and technically it's a gravity assist flyby." The Wabbit laughed. "I prefer sling shot." Skratch shaded his eyes. "I can see the devilish mosquitoes." Quantum finished with one planet and proceeded to the next. Mosquitoes faded from sight. "Hang on, second planet coming up." Quantum was enjoying himself. "If I get this wrong by a hairsbreadth we could vanish into the space time continuum." Lapinette smiled. "I have the utmost confidence." The mosquitoes swam into sight. "I'm going to detonate a shock wave." Quantum emerged from behind the second planet and deployed the shock wave. Mosquitoes whirled and shot out of sight. "How far?" asked Lapinette. "More years than I care to remember," said Wabsworth. "Where did you get the shock wave device," asked Skratch. "The Wabbit made it in his shed," chortled Quantum. "Tried and tested," commented the Wabbit. "Tested where and when?" asked Lapinette. "Now," replied the Wabbit, "Can't go around deploying shock waves in the back yard." The speakers crackled with mirth as Quantum set course for earth. "Home James and don't spare the horses?" Lapinette groaned. "I always hated that." She slapped at something on her paw. The Wabbit plucked an anti-mosquito spray from his fur. "After Bite. Always works.
