1. The Wabbit and the Post-nuclear Caffè

The Wabbit paused and glanced at the old Zodiac Restaurant. The weather was extremely hot on Monte Mario and his fur curled at the edges. So did the old restaurant. The Wabbit could not understand why it hadn't been a success. There was a car park too, a bonus in Rome where people would park on your head if you stood still long enough. And it had one of the best views. Overall it seemed like a nice place. He shook his head. The Wabbit was between missions and he could hardly say the last one was a success. "Keep going," he thought, "Keep right on to the end of the road." Maybe Lapinette would appear with papers for his next mission. But he knew she had an important shopping detail. He hopped a bit further until he got to the big tree. It wasn't the original famous poetic tree but it was big. He looked round then hugged it. He knew of all the trouble of course. The restaurant's bankruptcy, the tangle of legal rules, the woodland fire, COVID, all the things that put paid to the scenic spot. "Maybe the Department could step in," he thought. He shook his head again. The Department had enough trouble. He made his way towards the winding hill that would bring him down into the city. A rumbling overhead reminded him he should have brought his new hat. He felt the first spit of rain and started to run.
